Ingredients

For the marination:

  • ½ kg Mutton (cleaned and cut into small pieces)
  • ½ cup Dahi (curds)
  • 1 tbsp Crop Mutton Masala Powder
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt (as per taste)

Forthe Gravy:

  • 3 nos Onions (chopped)
  • 2 nos Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 3 tbsp Oil
  • Salt (as per taste)
  • 1 tbsp Crop Mutton Masala Powder
  • 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 cup Water (or as per thickness required)
  • A few Coriander Leaves (chopped finely)

Instructions

Marinate the Mutton:

  • In a bowl, mix the mutton with yogurt, Crop Mutton Masala Powder, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.

Prepare the Gravy:

  • Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add the chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  • Stir in the ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.

Cook the Mutton:

  • Add the marinated mutton to the cooker. Fry until the oil separates from the sides and the meat changes color.
  • Add another 1 tbsp of Crop Mutton Masala Powder and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Pour in water as needed to achieve your desired gravy consistency.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil.

Pressure Cook:

  • Cover the pressure cooker with the lid and cook until you hear one whistle.
  • Lower the flame and cook for an additional 15 minutes.

Check and Serve:

  • Check if the meat is properly cooked. If not, cook for a few more minutes.
  • Once done, transfer the mutton masala to a serving bowl.
  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rotis, naan, or chapatis.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the mutton for at least 2 hours. Overnight marination will enhance the flavors even more.
  • Adjust the water quantity based on the desired gravy consistency. You can add more water for a thinner curry or less for a thicker consistency.
  • Ensure the onions are fried until golden brown to get the perfect base for the gravy.
  • Freshly chopped coriander leaves add a refreshing touch to the dish; don't skip this step.
  • Serve the Mutton Masala Curry hot with rotis, naan, or chapatis for a complete meal.
Happy Cooking 🙂
