  • 6 nos red chillies (small)
  • 4 nos kashmiri chillies
  • 1 no tamrind (lemon size)
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)

Instructions

  • In a blender, grind grated coconut, red chillies, tamarind, and asafoetida without adding too much water.
  • Add green gram to the blender and grind to a semi-smooth paste.
  • Clean the colocasia leaves and remove the veins from the backside. Set them aside.
  • Take a colocasia leaf and spread a thin layer of the batter on the backside of the leaf. Place another leaf on top and repeat the process until you have 4-5 layers of leaves with batter in between.
  • Roll the layered leaves tightly to form a cylinder shape.
  • Place the rolled pathrode in a steamer and steam for about 40-45 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Once done, remove the pathrode from the steamer and let it cool slightly. Remove the thread or toothpicks used for rolling and slice the pathrode into rounds.
  • Serve hot with a drizzle of coconut oil.
